When you take five misfit aliens, great CGI, experienced actors, a touch of adult humor, an action filled story based on a comic book, and set it to clips of 1970′s pop-songs, you get a fun romp though an alternate movieverse.

I walked into this film without any familiarity with the two comic book series it is based on, and perhaps I am lucky. Without any preconceptions as to storyline, plot, or characters, I could sit back and enjoy the ride, and what a ride it was.

I will admit my bias. I am a Planet of the Apes and have been ever since I saw Planet of the Apes as a child. It’s a bit like pizza, even bad pizza is still pretty good.

That being said, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is well worth watching. Although, skip the 3-D which adds little to this film. Continue reading →
